update.......
We have been funded by Awards for All and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, to work with 3 youth groups and 3 adult disability groups from Stoke, Leek and Stafford. We will create a dance performance with them, which will then be showcased in a community setting where the group is based. FRONTLINEdance will also be performing an integrated dance piece by professional disabled and non-disabled dancers at the same event, where the participants will have the opportunity to watch the company and perform alongside them. The performance will also include live musicians. This will educate and raise awareness within the community about what is possible, encourage acceptance, increase knowledge and inspiration, promote inclusion as well as providing high quality arts work in a community setting.
In January we received funding
from the Staffordshire Local Network Fund,
to deliver dance workshops and an provide performance opportunities to children and young people. |

This will take
place up until December 2005 in 4 Stoke-on-Trent and North
Staffordshire based organisations and venues. Participants
will create their own work on their own chosen theme and showcase to
others, if they wish. They will work with a member of FRONTLINEdance
alongside an inclusive team of volunteers (1 disabled and 1
non-disabled). Outreach Work - what
we offer:
PERFORMANCE & WORKSHOP DAYThis
will include a performance that includes live musicians lasting
approximately 25 minutes and two dance workshops (both 1 hour each). The
integrated dance performance is an exciting collaboration between
choreographer, composer, jazz guitarist and an artist/costume designer.
This will create a wash of art, dance and music, all working in sync,
making each element clearer and stronger to interpret and to be
understood. WORKSHOPS (one-off’s to full days and weekly residencies) These will be tailor made to suit your needs. This can also include full day workshops working with different ability groups, and can include staff training for ideas on how to involve dance as a daily basis. For example, a full day could include 3 dance workshops in the daytime, then a training session with staff at the end of the day. We could also work with a group to create a dance piece for performance. This could be done over a period of weeks, or we could work with the centre for 5 ½ days. 3 full days or 5 full days to create a performance piece. This could also be a dance and music collaborative workshop. STAFF
TRAINING A session with staff to provide ideas, help and advice in making dance a regular activity, highlighting the benefits and making sure it is fully accessible for non-dance specialists to deliver and enjoy. This
could also be a music and dance session. An example of this could be to
include a practical workshop and sharing in each art form (2 groups, max
of 15 in each), presentations including ideas and differentiation of
tasks for different groups and abilities, talk/discussion and task and
ideas sheets.
WEEKLY
W We
recommend 1½ hour workshops, either for 1 group or 2 x 45mins for 2
smaller groups. These will be creative contemporary workshops and will
be tailor made to the group. INTEGRATED
DANCE SESSIONS to
create a performance piece with 2 venues,
i.e. a local performing arts college and day centre
A great idea that we encourage is to join forces to create an integrated dance performance piece. A group would work together for a period of time to create a dance performance that would be performed at both resident venues. This could be 10 ½ days, 5 full days as a residency or 15 1 ½ hour sessions
